Interview Follow-Up

  • Promptly send follow-up thank you email 

    • Include any interview takeaways or something specific​

  • Send a LinkedIn request to connect with interviewers: shows strong follow-up and a personal touch​

Homework

  • Provide copy of 30/60/90 day action plan

  • Bring copies of other documentation (awards, etc...)

  • ​Know the job description inside and out.  Utilize ChatGPT

  • Know the company and company mission inside and out

Resume

  • Bring copies to interview

  • Be prepared to discuss any obvious gaps/questions your resume might present

Misc Keys

  • Take notes during interview.  Shows you care and an attention to detail

  • Dress appropriately for the role and company (dress for the role you want!)

  • Do not interview for a role you are not really interested in.  It will show!

  • When answering questions, use strategic pauses to gather your thoughts.  You want to provide your best answer, not the fastest!​

  • Confirm your interview appointment day before interview

  • Practice your answers to questions.  Record yourself, play back.

  • Understand the job description and key words.  Build them into resume, 30/60/90, and interview answers

  • Avoid negative topics/feedback:  don't throw current/previous employer or manager under the bus

  • Be patient.  Hiring decisions take time.  But follow up!

  • Be aware of any body language habits you might have and adjust as needed (eye contact, hand gestures, etc...)
